In this post, we keep exploring other hidden coffee shops with a few steps walk from Hoan Kiem lake..

3. BOTTOM’S UP

Here was once a favored coffee shop named “ROCK BILLY” which suddenly closed for renovation leaving disappointment for many frequent visitors. A while after that, the coffee shop was opened again with a new name of “BOTTOM’S UP” with a brand new shirt, both exterior and interior.

How to find BOTTOM’S UP? Walk to the intersection of Luong Van Can Street & Hang Gai Street, right next to the famous PAPAROTTI bakery there you find a tiny alley with a red flash signboard of “BOTTOM’S UP”. Or, you can look for the lock-maker man who often sits right in front of the shop, you will find right behind him a little stairway up to the shop (2nd to 4th floor).

The renovated coffee shop is now decorated with modern style, each floor stretches along a narrow and limited area with highlights of different private balconies with street view. Those most favored seats are always occupied by early birds, before it’s getting dark…

Go for the view? Do not mind walking up a few more steps to reach to the rooftop of the shop, it’s the place that offers the best city view & a part of lake view.

***Address: BOTTOM’s UP – No. 54 Luong Van Can Street.

4. PHO CO COFFEE:

Pho Co Coffee is quite well-known, recommended on many websites and travelers’ blogs.

As described by a blogger: “A friend of mine suggested me to try the egg coffee at Pho Co Coffee, but when I got there, I found it’s not only unique because of the egg coffee but also the way up to the shop. The entry is a souvenir shop but behind is a lovely bordering-on-crumbling building whose breezy rooftop offers one of the best views in Hanoi.” She was absolutely right!

With a glance, you will never discover the way up to this coffee shop. You need to walk to No. 11 Hang Gai Street and confidently walk into the small alley between the two souvenir shops, once get inside you will find a spacious area of an ancient house, with very old pillars, stairs, vases and other decorations.. Just walk up the staircases, make sure you pass two or even three staircases to reach to the 2nd floor or 3rd floor. Of course, the higher floor the better view!
